Hotel California and Earth Hour

Been practicing guitar for 7 consecutive hours today. 5 hours on Hotel California, and another 2 on band practice in Yamaha. Phew, life of a student can sometimes be more hectic than an adult +_+

So we were told that on the next week that some government workers and headmasters from Negri Sembilan will be visiting our school. And Music Club is to put on a good show :/   And that's why we've been practicing Hotel California since Thursday. It's a good song, just that it is a bit outdated, but a masterpiece of it's time still.

This time our performance will be a bit different from what our school has ever seen, and I really mean ever. For those who want to see our breakthrough performance please give some support for us on the next Saturday LOL!

This was me in the practice session.
Nigel Ho teaching our Saxophonist BaoYun on how to play the song.

Ahhh wait, I shouldn't be showing you the last picture... Haha...Anyway, yes, we're using saxophone for our song, that's why I said it's different. From what I knew, Guitar Club( Now Music Club ) and Brass Band never mixed since the history of Yu Hua began, for whatever reasons I don't know, and this shall be the first time and we're doing it. Special thanks to BaoYun for accepting the challenge of this song and Brass Band for understanding that Music is universal.

p.s. My fingers are sore now :(

===        ===        ===        ===        ===        ===        ===        ===

It's Earth Hour day today. And I've been a good boy by closing the lights :D

But here I have to talk about something. Something about our commitment towards protecting the Earth.

I'm sure most of you if not all, showed your intentions of saving the environment by turning off the lights today from 8:30 to 9:30 just now. And I'm pretty sure that after today, the intention will be forgotten, faded away as some of you will end up living your same resouces-wasting routine. That's typical for any human, as it's our nature to take things for granted.

I sure hope that Earth Hour Day will not become another "Thank (Put name here) Day" like Teacher's Day or Mother's Day or Father's Day. We all thought that we showed our thanks to teachers and parents by celebrating those dates, but in truth it's only for that day. Any other days we'll be back to our ownselves again, disrespecting them, not listening to their advices, and because of this our celebration on those days doesn't even mean a thing...We should be showing our gratitudes each and every day to our teachers, our parents, and loved ones, not just on a single particular day on the calender.

Same thing applies to this Earth Hour Day, if you think you showed commitment by turning of the lights for an hour tonight and only that, you're terribly wrong. One hour of commitment can't change the world, one day of commitment can't change the world. Come on, even if you commit a whole month and only that month, the world will still be the same when the desire to save the Earth fades. Sad truth? Yes

This journey will take your whole life, and believe me I'm sure it's worth every second of it, even if you do something tiny in scale compared to the Earth, as long as you're doing it while you're living, you're making a difference. And that's what I call changing the world. One day, we'll be seeing the heal, a significant heal, and we'll be working harder to make this world a better place.

It starts from you and each and everyone of us, right here, right now.

Odyssey No.3 - Photos and Valleys

Went to Midvalley straight after school today for a photography exhibition with other photography club members. I also bought a guitar pickup from Rhapsody Valley but it can only be used on steel acoustic guitar not nylon, aww crap, screw that sales assistant who told me this can be used on any guitar.

After our lunch at Oasis we went the the exhibition hall. It was quite disappointing on first sight, the hall wasn't the big hall and there were not many exhibition booths inside, though the Canon booth really caught everyone's attention once they entered the hall. They built a tower-like stucture there.

So we went around in the hall browsing through the gadgets. Most of them are cool stuffs but may cost more than what you have in your bank account.

And this is the coolest lens in the whole exhibition XD, Nikon 400mm lens. The zoom was fixed for the display lens but I can tell you for sure this thing can  shoot you from miles away, well figuratively :) . Look at Nigel's face of happiness...

And we went on top of Canon's tower. There were some exhibits on top but it's too crowded so I took out my camera and start capturing some pics.

The Nikon booth from the top.

The photos exhibited.

One of the Canon display lens, also quite a long lens, and expensive too.

Ah, we went down to the Nikon booth where there's a model and an European guy there giving advices on how to take photo. Then we met this funny guy, Mr.Chew from Nikon, a photography instructor( or something like that ). Gave a few tips on how to take brilliant photos, and I dare say he's quite generous is giving advices, but clearly don't know and don't like to use Canon or Sony cameras XD

Some random pictures.

Mozart and Beethoven are not friends

While on my way to school this morning, my mom stopped by some shop to buy something, leaving my brother at the car seat  with the seat belt strapped on.
How adorable~ :D

He's still eight months old but already naughtier than any other average baby...Especially likes to drool on my shirt and play with saliva.

Music Club's activity was a bit quiet today, most students are still on holiday. So it meant less work for me  :)

So after that I went to Yamaha with Zhi Lin. Me for performance practice while Zhi Lin for Drums lesson. We saw Zhong Xin there too, playing his harmonica for other performance group.

This was the girls practicing, playing some song by Mozart (forgot the piece name). Zhong Xin was away for his piano lesson inside the studio.

Seeing them performing makes me wanna learn violin too :D . But I have a dilemma, I can't decide whether I want to take up violin or saxophone, certainly not both since I don't have time and money. LOL!  One thing's for sure, saxophone is teh sexiest, but at the same time it's many times more expensive than a violin.

When Zhong Xin came back to the room, we practiced and tried some of the song to see if it my guitar and his harmonica can play a part. Some are great, some sounds suckish with guitar and harmonica.  :D

In the end teacher left us to practice among ourselves because she have a lesson. Then Zhi Lin was done with his drums class and came in too. Xin and Zhi Lin went nuts at the pianos :/ . Xin playing mostly Mozart songs while Zhi Lin played his "Sonata Pathetique" by Beethoven.

And I dare say that Mozart and Beethoven are not friends, because they sound grand yet disastrous when played together. Haha...The other pianist inside, Elaine, asked me why do I got two crazy pianist as friends LOL!

Odyssey No.2 - Moving Sardin Cans, Cheesy Movies and Eco-friendly Boxes

This morning it RAINED! Aw suckish weather, wanted to go practice golf shortgame raining pula.

Zhi Lin wanted to join me for a session of golf LOL! So at 8:40a.m. I went to his house to take him to Kajang Hill to hit some balls lor. When we reach there dad bought 200 balls for us, OMG, that was a little too many leh. We quickly rush to the driving range because it's raining.

And so I taught Zhi Lin how to grip the club, and how to stand, and how to swing the club lo. This was him preparing to hit the ball, the clubs beneath is to teach him the alignments.

After hitting the ball. Fu-yoh~ Like pro  :P

Everytime when a people ask me if golf is easy and I said it's not, they say I'm lying lar and stuffs =_=. To clear up the sceptics, golf really is a difficult game to play. Ask Zhi Lin if you don't believe me =(This is my swing, I asked Zhi Lin to take the photo for me.  I have to check it regularly with photo or videos to perfect my swing since I can't have access to a large and tall mirror.  :)
So Zhi Lin took shower at my house before we headed to town. We met up with Hong Young to take the RapidKL bus to Jusco. Walau A....There's a lot of people, like squeeze sardin. Cant even turn myself without hitting the others. And so we went to Jusco in the moving sardin can.

We joined 3 Form3 "Dong Gua"s at Jusco for lunch and a movie. We decided to go for "Race to Witch Mountain" at first but it's full, so they say want see "Dragon Ball: Evolution" wor...I was like OMG?

The entire movie was er...Very cheesy(In other words it's a bit suckish)...

I'll give it a 9/10 for special effects but 3/10 for storyline. Somehow the characters were not developed enough and there are some loopholes and goofs...Felt like something is missing though. See it for yourself if you want to know what I mean, but it's the best that you don't :D

After the movies I saw that opposite the cinema was a K Box named "Green Box"...Hmm...

Peoples are more concerned about the environment lately and this does not exclude K boxes LOL.

"Welcome to the eco-friendly, earth-loving Green Box"

So after that we 3 went back by bus again. Saw Goh Jau Ni the school Brass/Wind band pengerusi on the bus. This time the bus was worse than the previous, felt more like a tiny steamed room. Gosh...

And so there goes my Wednesday for today. Another half to go before school starts again. Till then, enjoy your remaining holidays.

Odyssey in Kajang

Went to UNITEN in the morning to help Sifu and Wilson bring the kids to the golf course. All of them are going into a real golf course for the first time :D

Kinda exciting for them. Not for me LOL!

So we managed to play like 5 holes only because we have to stop at 11 a.m. . And to tell you honestly, even though I'm only helping out, I'm exhausted to max.   x_x Here are some picture for the day.

Prodigy in making...

Hugging Wilson's ass XD

Wilson offering some reminders

Your friendly neighbourhood Coach Wilson :D

This lass is kicking your butt big time~

Don't aim bunker leh T_T

Wilson's Sunblock lotion. This picture is like an advertisement for sunblock lotion LOL!

And so the morning ended. I asked Wilson to take me back, what to do, he knows how to drive while I don't. Went to the highway and I accidentally directed him to the wrong road XD
He damn dulan haha...But it's not really the wrong road, it's just the wrong exit on the highway, so need to take a big round instead of shortcut lor. This was Wilson swearing in the car after I told him to take the wrong road XD

So in the end we still reach my father's workshop, but only 20 minutes late.  :D ...Wilson wanted to have his car checked but the wait was too long, so he went back...

In the afternoon I have driving lessons. That uncle was half an hour late to my house...zzz...

So he drove to Bandar Teknologi for me to drive around there since there's almost no car in that place. Aiyoyo, treat me like newbie, though I never drove car before, I was experienced in driving golf buggies ma...

It was easy but the uncle kept turning the steering wheel for me LOL~ He was afraid but meh, I don't blame him.

After an hour of practicing I drove the car home with his guidance. Hmm, I noticed Malaysian drivers are (No offense but it's true) assholes. All of them follow me near behind, even though the lane beside is empty, they didn't want to overtake, but still bugging me from behind. Beh tahan...

So, that's my odyssey today in Kajang town. Quite a crazy + fun day.

Till my next post, happy holidays~

March Test

Studied Physics and Add Maths today, no hope for Moral LOL!

So I woke up early this morning and studied almost non-stop. Sucks to study last minute I know but what to do... That's me

Anyways I got bored in the afternoon and on my PC to find a piece called "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" by Rachmaninoff. Well, specificly, I was searching for an excerpt in that piece, which was "Variation 18".

Found it on YouTube, and to be honest it's one of the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

Here's a recording of the song, played by Chinese Piano Maestro Lang Lang.

After which I asked Zhi Lin and Zhong Xin where to find classical pieces. They both directed me to IMSLP (International Music Score Library Project). Found the piece but it was copyrighted so I cannot open it. Shite... But Zhi Lin came up with the link in SheetMusicFox.com LOL. The internet is too brilliant, there's nothing you can hide from the world >:D

Anyways I only printed out Variation 18 and it was not that hard to play, well to be honest it's quite hard for me but I'll rate it as an easier piece in classical music. It's written in piano duet instead of the orchestra version though, how nice~ +_+After trying out a few pages I went back to study again, how sad. Still have Addmaths to complete.
So...Wish me luck in my test, however unimportant it is. And here's some picture of the day :)

Can you guess what are those?

Coming Soon - "Theory Hell" >:D

Went to school early this morning today at 7:00a.m. . I was crazy to go there that early LOL. Met up with Zhi Lin at around 7:40. But today no Music Club activity, just me and Zhi Lin working on the "Basic Music Theory Intensive Course for Dummies". Zhi Lin had been asking me to teach him a song called "Little Turtle" by Nicholas Teo lately. Finally got the chords for him but I only found out that it was in C major instead of the original Db major...Aww, I transposed the whole thing lor, but after transposing to original key too hard to play leh...LOL, so we decided only to try out the intro part where there was guitar pickings only +_+

This was Zhi Lin playing my guitar. Really let him zadou  :O

We started to work on the theory intensive course syllabus at 9:00 a.m. The course is going to be packed with a lot of info, we even squeezed in Grade 4 and Grade 5 theory inside this beginner's course  o_o... I'm not sure how are they going to handle this, but what I'm sure is that it'll worth every dollar and second they spend on that day.

So we debated on whether what to teach or what not, and we need to have all this done within 4 hours on that day. Pretty intense stuff if you ask me. After a canteen break and more guitar playing at 10 o clock, we resumed our work at 11. This time we're designing exercise questions for them on that day. The questions are ridiculously hard LOL. Our idea is that they can only remember if they learn from the wrong... So I was told that I have to go back to Yamaha today for band practice at 1p.m. . While I was waiting my dad to pick me up from school to Yamaha, the sky was going grey, so I tried some pics with my camera.I kinda LOL'ed at the second pic, reminds me of the game "Left 4 Dead" XD
When I reached Yamaha my teacher told me that today no band practice leh =_=". Really zadou lor... Haiz...

So I took my lunch outside Yamaha - Station Kopitiam with Zhi Lin. Luckily my mom is working in Metro Plaza can take me home at 1 o clock....

That's about all for today...Another typical Saturday :D

Ah, and it's my sister birthday today. This is today's picture of the day.

Cheers~
